Building confident, capable, and caring young leaders
This is not your average educational environment where a child is pushed through a system focused on WHAT they need to learn. At Compass Point Montessori, we use the natural wonder and curiosity of children to teach them HOW to learn.
Most of us are products of the public school system. You remember… learning our sounds and letters in Kindergarten, sitting in desks while the teacher lectured at us, memorizing equations without really understanding the meaning.
Many children can thrive in that environment, but just as many struggle because the understanding they need isn’t taught — it simply isn’t part of the curriculum. That system offers little flexibility, and those who can’t adapt often continue to struggle long after school ends.
Now imagine if you had the freedom to focus on the subject that interested you at that moment. What if you had a realistic model of the animal that started with the letter sound you were learning, instead of just a picture on the wall? What if you could see, touch, and feel the numbers ten, one hundred, or one thousand? Do you think learning would have been more engaging and meaningful?
That is exactly what Compass Point Montessori offers your child — an environment that embraces inquisitiveness, honors individual interests, and builds a strong foundation of HOW to learn in any environment.
To nurture the child’s natural desire for hands-on learning, building problem-solving and concentration skills that develop self-motivated, independent, and confident young adults.
We envision a future where every child grows into a self-motivated young adult who positively impacts their community and contributes meaningfully to society. Our vision is guided by five core commitments:
1. Build a foundation for lifelong learning by focusing on the whole child.
2. Cultivate problem-solving, responsibility, and independence.
3. Offer an authentic Montessori education that values multi-age classrooms, hands-on learning, child-directed work, uninterrupted work periods, and AMS-credentialed teachers.
4. Encourage children to become contributing members of society through peace education and lessons in grace and courtesy.
5. Foster strong collaborative partnerships among the school, families, and the broader community.
By the time they leave our program, our students embody these qualities:
Understands their own character and acts without fear of judgment.
Attuned to the needs of others and treats everyone with care and respect.
Asks thoughtful questions, tries new ideas, and thinks critically to fulfill their eagerness to learn.
Organizes their time and cares for their own well-being, environment, and community.
Works cohesively with children of all ages and personalities.
Willing to persevere through challenges and learn from mistakes.
Committed to making a positive difference in their community.
Compass Point Montessori was founded in 2021 by Tiffanie Bockey, an experienced Montessori educator who had long dreamed of opening her own school. What began in the basement of the Bockey family home has grown into a thriving learning community serving children ages 3 to 6 (Preschool through Kindergarten).
The school first introduced itself to the local community through summer read-aloud sessions for neighborhood families. In early 2025, Compass Point moved to its permanent home at 22615 Point Lookout Rd, Leonardtown, MD 20650. The family celebrated this milestone with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on October 31, 2025.
Compass Point Montessori is truly a family effort. Tiffanie serves as lead teacher and directress, while her husband Kyle manages logistics and finances behind the scenes. Their twin sons, Liam and Aiden, help with handiwork and maintenance, and their daughter Maire manages the school’s online presence and advertising. Together, the family poured their hearts into preparing the new space — repainting, reflooring, and creating a beautiful, safe environment for children to thrive.
Compass Point Montessori is proud to be an AMS Verifed School, having met the rigorous standards set by the American Montessori Society through comprehensive review of our program, environment, and teaching practices.
Tiffanie is deeply grateful to her family and the local community for helping turn her longtime dream into reality.
